Resolution of Arlington County Civic Federation:
Historic Preservation Policy
Adopted June 6, 2006
Whereas Arlington County is engaged in a two-step process with regard to historic preservation in the County, with the first step to develop a policy framework, and the second to develop tools for implementation;
Whereas Arlington County staff, in consultation with appropriate County advisory committees, has developed a draft policy framework that calls for the identification of buildings, collections of buildings, and commercial and residential neighborhoods of significant historical value so that these may be noted on the County's master plan and other planning documents;
Whereas tools to implement the policy will be developed at a later date;
BE IT RESOLVED: That the Arlington County Civic Federation
1. supports the development of a policy framework along the lines set forth in the December 19, 2005, draft; and
2. asks that the County Board, after a policy framework is adopted, direct that the process for developing implementation tools be open and inclusive, and include the Civic Federation and other interested parties.
