The Federation 911 Scholarship Fund
On September 11, 2001, Arlington's firefighters, emergency medical technicians, police, Sheriff's deputies and E-911 operators responded heroically and unselfishly to rescue our neighbors, relatives and friends who work in the Pentagon...and they saved a building that symbolizes America's strength.
In December the Arlington County Civic Federation established a scholarship fund for the children of Arlington's public safety personnel. Anyone can contribute - including businesses, organizations, families, individuals, and especially our members.
The Fund was the brainchild of Tim Reese, then President of the Arlington-East Falls Church Civic Association. It has grown remarkably. Here are the remarks made by ACCF President Jim Pebley at the ceremony kicking off the Fund. And here are the remarks of County Board Chairman Jay Fisette. Others spoke from notes, so we will not be able to post all the speeches. But we do have some photos, starting with this one.

On December 8, 2002 the Washington Post had a nice article about the Fund. We were impressed with its accuracy! And on April 11, 2002 the Arlington Journal had a very nice article about progress in finding funding, and business contributions.
How to Help
To support the fund, you can send a check from your self or your organization. You can just mail it to the Arlington Community Foundation earmarked for the Federation 911 Fund. Or use this handy Web page form by printing it out, or download the Word file with the form or the form in .pdf format if that's easier for you.
The fund is administered by the Arlington Community Foundation. You can mail a check to the Foundation made out to

or the 911 fund can be identified at the bottom of the check on the Memo line. Mail the check to:
