Minutes of the meeting of February 1, 2005

President Smaldore called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm.
1. Pledge of Allegiance.
2. Approval of Agenda. The agenda was approved.
3. Treasurer's Report. Balances: Checking $2,438.98, Savings $1,877.84, Combined $4,316.82, Reserved for 9-11 Scholarship Fund $864.97, Net Available $3,451.85, Separate US Postal Bulk Mail Account $92.92. Dues have been paid by 75 out of 85 member organizations.

9. Resolutions
- 9:20 Police Staffing Resolution - Proposed to ascertain what additional staffing is needed for our police force and to add 6 or more officers per year until full staffing is reached. Vote: Yes 60 No 0.
- 9:40 Zoning Ordinance Committee presented its report and recommended passage of a resolution to limit advertisement of any lot coverage amendment to the scope of the amendment currently proposed by the County Manager. Vote: Yes 44 No 21.
- 10:05 / 10:30 The Old Glebe Civic Association resolution presented by Burt Bostwick. The proposed resolution asked the County Board to immediately state if they are complying with their own ordinances and, if not, why not. There were several speakers in favor and then several speakers against the resolution. Then the floor was opened for debate. The vote was taken by a modified roll call procedure. Vote: Yes 15 No 61. The measure failed.
- 11:11 John Antonelli presented a resolution to encourage the County Board to revert back to its former meeting procedures until public comment was permitted on the changes implemented. After some debate, the question was called. Vote: Yes 19 No 28. The measure failed.
- 11:17 Peter Owen proposed a resolution on the lawsuit facing the County regarding the rule that 10% of new housing should be "affordable." The resolution was referred to the Housing and Zoning committees.
- John Antonelli proposed a resolution to revise the form-based code procedures. The measure was referred to the housing and Zoning committees.
